Thickness for bulletproof metals?

What I am hoping to get it the thickness of certain metal alloys to make them bulletproof. Could you also include the weight (if possible, if not, I'll find it) of the thickness of that material by one inch. Include materials that are cost efficient so not something that takes 10 inches to be bulletproof. Thanks to any help, sorry if my question is confusing.
