Can someone be hypnotized who doesn't necessarily want to?

I have heard for a long time that the answer to this question is no. However, recently I've begun to think it is possible. Had a friend at a show who was merely in the audience get hypnotized inadvertently and also had another friend who thought he was unhypnotizable get hypnotized. So, is it possible to hypnotize an unwilling subject?
