What can I do for a speeding ticket with a hold on my license?

I got a speeding ticket (35 in a 45) in California. I was overtaking another car to make a turn, didn't think I was going that fast really and that's when I got pulled over. The officer was a rude and even got the color of my car wrong. I planned on going to court, but missed the court date and now there's a hold on my driver's license. Want to go to court anyway to at least get the bail amount reduced ($549) or points not added to my record. I can't go to traffic school because I got a ticket less than 18 month ago (Sept. 2008)Good idea, bad or will it even matter since I may just be paying for a lot of court fees on top of the ticket? Any advice?
